Through our SE Career College of Health, we offer the Enhanced HCA/PSW Blended Delivery Program, a professional development course that has been specifically designed for certified Health Care Aides/Personal Support Workers employed in First Nation communities.
The Enhanced PSW/HCA Certificate Program model is a 5 week blended delivery program that includes 2 weeks of in person training and 3 weeks of on-line learning. It is provided to existing certified PSW/HCAs as an enhancement to their core Certificate training. The in person weeks focus on Palliative Care, Managing Clients with Cognitive and Mental Health Challenges, Caring for Medically Complex Children, Ethics and Leadership in healthcare, Mental Health skills and clinical skills refreshers (hands on training).
On the final day of the program participants complete a final theoretical review and practical exam to demonstrate knowledge transfer and skills development from participation in the refresher program. Participants who successfully complete the program are issued an HCA/PSW Enhanced Program Certificate and certificates in Palliative Care, Caring for Children with Medical Complexity, and Person and Family Centered Care from our Health Career College.
